ISO hemp blocks

ISO hemp blocks are made from a mixture of hemp shives, lime and water. This is the same mix as HempFlax HB®, but available as lightweight finished blocks. Walls are easily and quickly created with these hemp blocks, using adhesive mortar. ISO hemp blocks are not a load-bearing construction material, so they need to be supported by an metal or wooden frame. This frame will bear the vertical load from the roof and the upper floors.

The high thermal capacity (0,076 W/m.L) and the air density of the ISO Hemp blocks eliminates the need for constructing extra insulation layers. This means that there is no need to construct a  cavity wall. The permeable ability of these HempFlax HB® walls  creates a passive self-regulation of both temperature and moisture level inside the building. Implementation of heating and/or  air-condition systems is not necessary.

  • Dimensions of the blocks: 60cm x 30cm

  • Range of thicknesses: 12cm, 15cm, 20cm to 30cm

  • Density: 360 kg/m³.

  • Joins should not be thicker than 3mm

  • Lightweight blocks allow for use of lightweight frames

  • High thermal capacity (0,076 W/m.L)

  • Store dry and protected. Do not store pallets more than two high.

Material

Hemp wood comes from the inner core of the plant stems. When the stem is processed, bast fibers are stripped away and the inner core broken into shives. This category covers all HempFlax wood products.
